1、 In terms of packaging form
1. The SFP optical module is an upgraded version of GBIC, with a maximum speed of 4.25G. It is mainly composed of lasers, and is characterized by small size and hot pluggable.
2. The SFP+optical module is an enhanced version of SFP with a transmission rate of 10Gbps, which can meet the requirements of 8.5G Fibre Channel and 10G Ethernet applications.
2、 Transmission rate
The transmission rate of an optical module refers to the number of bits (bits) of data transmitted per second, in Mb/s and Gb/s. Our company commonly produces transmission rates of 1Gb/s and 10Gb/s. According to different transmission rates, optical modules can be divided into 1G optical modules (i.e., gigabit optical modules) and 10G optical modules (i.e., 10G optical modules).
3、 Transmission distance
According to the transmission distance, optical modules can be divided into three types: short distance, medium distance, and long distance. The transmission distance of short distance optical modules is 2 km or less, the transmission distance of medium distance optical modules is between 10 and 20 km, and the transmission distance of long distance optical modules is over 30 km.
